Local Research Assistants

We know that it can be difficult to get to record offices if you work during the day or don't live close to the office you need to visit; therefore, some of our members have offered to make visits to record offices to assist those who cannot go themselves. Contact Peter or Pam (members) for their help with your research.

Peter : If you would like some research carried out at the Berkshire Record Office or Oxford Local Studies Library please contact me at peter.east@btinternet.com. Oxford Local Studies Library does not hold original documents but has a full set of transcriptions plus access to Oxfordshire FHS searchable indexes of countywide Births, Marriages & Deaths. I am a member of both the Berkshire FHS and the Cornwall FHS and have access to their data.

Pam : I am willing to assist with Local Research and can do research both in Uxbridge and also in the Home Counties - London, Middlesex, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Essex, Surrey, Kent, and of course Buckinghamshire.] Ken, my husband, is Chairman of the Uxbridge Local History Society, so anyone with ancestors from Uxbridge we can help. We have experience in transcribing old or hard-to- read East wills, which we could do for others.

Binders for Points East journals

These blue Cordex binders are capable of holding 12 copies of Points East, with the spine blocked in gold with the Society’s name and logo. Each comes in its own 'large letter' postal box. Please let a member of the Committee know if you might be interested in buying one or more binders. The cost for one binder (including postage) is £8. The cost for two binders (including postage together) is £15. Cheques to be sent to the treasurer, John East, made payable to the 'East Family History Society’.
